How to connect Modash to your AI tools

Written by Donna

Get your AI assistant talking to Modash in minutes. This guide walks you through connecting Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, or any MCP-compatible tool to your Modash account.

Once connected, you can ask your AI questions about your campaigns, creators, outreach, and more - all pulling live data straight from Modash.

💡 Your Modash server URL is: https://marketer.modash.io/mcp

Before you start

You'll need:

  • An active Modash account on any paid plan (Essentials, Performance, or Enterprise)

  • An account with your chosen AI tool (Claude, Claude Code, ChatGPT, Cursor, Notion AI, or another MCP-compatible client)

Getting your MCP connection URL

  1. Log in to your Modash account

  2. Click your initials at the bottom left of Modash

  3. Click Connect AI Tools

  4. Copy your MCP server URL - you'll paste this into your AI tool in the next step

No API key needed. You sign in with Modash when your AI tool asks.

Connecting Claude

  1. In Claude, open Customize > Connectors

  2. Click +, then Add custom connector

  3. Name it Modash and paste the server URL

  4. Click Add, then Connect - Claude opens the Modash sign-in

  5. Sign in with your Modash account and approve the permissions

  6. You're connected - try asking Claude a question about your Modash data

💡 Claude Team or Enterprise: An Owner adds Modash first in Organization settings > Connectors > Add > Custom > Web. Members then click Connect. Free plans get one custom connector.

Connecting Cursor

The fastest way is one click - visit Connect AI Tools in your Modash settings and click Add to Cursor. Cursor opens the Modash sign-in the first time you use it.

Or add it by hand to ~/.cursor/mcp.json :

{
"mcpServers": {
"modash": {
"url": "https://marketer.modash.io/mcp"
}
}
}

Connecting Claude Code

Run this in your terminal:

claude mcp add --transport http modash <https://marketer.modash.io/mcp>

Then type /mcp in Claude Code and pick modash to sign in.

Connecting ChatGPT

  1. In ChatGPT, go to Settings > Connected apps

  2. Click Add app

  3. Search for Modash or enter the MCP server URL

  4. Click Connect - ChatGPT opens the Modash sign-in

  5. Sign in with your Modash account and approve the permissions

  6. Start asking ChatGPT questions about your Modash data

Connecting Notion AI

  1. In your Custom Agent, open Settings > Tools & Access

  2. Click Add connection, then Custom MCP server

  3. Paste the server URL and name it Modash

  4. Click Connect - Notion opens the Modash sign-in

💡 Workspace admins: An admin turns on Enable custom MCP servers first in Settings > Connections > Manage. If members can install approved connections only, the admin also adds the server URL in Approved connections.

Connecting other AI tools

Any AI tool that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth works. Paste the server URL. Do not add headers or an API key.

  1. Find the MCP or integrations settings in your AI tool

  2. Add a new MCP server

  3. Paste your Modash MCP server URL: https://marketer.modash.io/mcp

  4. Sign in with your Modash account when prompted

  5. Start asking questions about your Modash data

Testing your connection

Once connected, try one of these prompts to make sure everything is working:

  • "Show me my creator lists in Modash"

  • "How many creators are in my [list name] list?"

  • "Search for fitness creators on Instagram"

If you get a response with your actual Modash data, you're all set!

Permissions and security

The MCP connection authenticates as you via OAuth and inherits your Modash account permissions. This means:

  • Your AI tool can only see what you can see in Modash

  • Team members each connect separately with their own permissions

  • Your AI gets live answers from Modash every time.

  • You can disconnect at any time from Connect AI Tools in your Modash settings

Modash supplies the raw data - your AI tool generates and interprets the response.

Troubleshooting

Here are the most common issues and how to fix them:

  • Claude says an Owner must add it first - on Claude Team and Enterprise, an Owner adds Modash in Organization settings > Connectors. Then you click Connect

  • The Modash page says the request is missing - the sign-in link expired or was opened in another browser. You’ll need to start the process again.

  • Your app is behind a company firewall - Claude and Notion connect from their own cloud, so they must be able to reach marketer.modash.io

  • Missing data - MCP inherits your account permissions, so you'll only see data your role can access. If something's missing, ask a workspace admin

FAQs

  • What if my connection fails?
    Check that your Modash account is active and that you're entering the correct server URL. If the issue persists, try disconnecting and reconnecting. Contact hello@modash.io if you continue to have trouble.

  • Can I connect multiple AI tools at the same time?
    Yes. You can connect Modash to Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other tools simultaneously. Each connection authenticates independently.

  • How do I disconnect Modash from my AI tool?
    You can disconnect from your AI tool's MCP settings, or from the settings page in your Modash account.

  • Do I need to install anything?
    No installation is required. MCP connections are configured through your AI tool's settings. You just need the Modash server URL and your account credentials.

  • Can I limit what my AI tool can access?
    The MCP connector inherits your account permissions automatically. It can only access the data and actions that Modash has enabled through MCP - it doesn't have full access to your account settings or billing.

  • Will connecting MCP affect my regular Modash usage?
    Not at all. Your Modash dashboard and all platform features work exactly the same. MCP is an additional way to access your data, not a replacement.
