The Affiliate Program

Written by Donna

Your entire affiliate operation in one place. The Affiliate Program gives you a centralized dashboard to manage every affiliate, commission tier, discount code, tracking link, and order - without jumping between individual campaigns.

The Affiliate Program vs campaigns

Both the Affiliate Program and campaigns show affiliate data, but they serve different purposes.

The Affiliate Program automatically aggregates all your affiliate data across every campaign into a single view. Use it for managing your overall program, running bulk actions, and seeing the big picture.

Campaigns let you organize affiliates into separate groups for reporting. Use them when you need to track performance by region, niche, or product line.

Creators appear in the Affiliate Program as soon as they're added to a commission tier in any campaign.

Inviting affiliates to the Affiliate Program

You can invite creators to the affiliate program in two ways:

From a campaign: Open a campaign in Track, find the creator in the Creators tab, and click Add to affiliates in the Commission tier column. This ties the creator to that campaign's reporting.

From the Affiliate Program: Use the Invite affiliates button to add creators directly to the program and assign them a commission tier - without creating a campaign first. This is ideal for bulk onboarding.

The key difference: adding through a campaign ties the creator to that specific campaign's reporting. Inviting directly through the Affiliate Program adds them to the program without a campaign link - but they'll still appear in the program-wide views.

For a full walkthrough on setting up your first affiliates, see Setting up affiliate programs.

Overview tab

The Overview tab gives you a high-level snapshot of your affiliate program's performance. See total sales, commissions, and active affiliates at a glance.

Affiliates tab

The Affiliates tab lists every creator in your program with their key details and performance data.

For each affiliate, you'll see:

  • Total sales - gross revenue from all orders attributed to the creator

  • Net sales - revenue after discounts, returns, and refunds

  • Total commissions - all commissions earned (including pending and paid)

  • Paid commissions - commissions that have been paid out

Affiliate statuses:

  • Invited - the creator has been invited but hasn't accepted yet. Commissions can accrue on attributed orders, but payouts only process for accepted affiliates.

  • Accepted - the creator has accepted the invitation and is actively part of the program.

Filtering: Use filters to find exactly what you need - filter by creator name, commission tier, status, date added, or activity level. The inactive creator filter is especially useful for cleaning up your roster and freeing up tracking slots.

Moving affiliates between tiers

Click the three dots next to any creator and select Edit affiliate setup. The creator's current tier is highlighted in blue. Click the tier you want to move them to, or create a new one.

You can also move creators from a campaign: find the Commission tier column and click the pencil icon.

Before the change is saved, you'll see a confirmation with these details:

  • The creator's commission will update based on the new tier

  • Existing affiliate codes and links will automatically reflect the new commission template

  • New codes and links will only be generated if the code type changes or the destination store is different

  • Discount values for codes of the same type (e.g., order amount) will update to match the new tier

  • If a gift is included, it will be generated and assigned to the creator

The creator receives an email every time you move them to a different tier, even if only the discount code changes. This is so they can review and accept the new terms.

Removing a creator from the program

Click the three dots next to the creator and select Remove from tier. Before the change is saved, you'll see a warning:

  • Sales from the creator's unique codes or affiliate links will no longer generate commission

  • Affiliate links will still work, but sales won't be attributed unless the creator is re-added to the same tier or assigned to a new one

  • Gifts for the creator will expire

  • Discount codes for the audience will remain active unless expired

Removing a creator from a tier doesn't deactivate their code. Customers can still use it to get a discount, but the creator won't earn commission on those sales. If you want the code to stop working, expire it separately.

Content tab

The Content tab shows all tracked content from your affiliates, just like the content view in individual campaigns.

Orders tab

The Orders tab gives you a program-wide view of every affiliate order.

For each order, you'll see:

  • Tracking source - whether the sale was attributed via a discount code or tracking link

  • Commission status - Pending, Scheduled, Processing, or Payment created

  • Order status - Scheduled or Fulfilled

Manual commissioning: If an order wasn't automatically attributed but you know a creator drove it, click the three dots on the order and select Mark as commissioned to attribute the sale manually.

Tiers tab

The Tiers tab shows all your commission tiers and lets you manage them.

Creating a new tier from the Affiliate Program: Click + New commission tier. This flow lets you set up the commission structure, product overrides, and automations all in one place. This is a different flow than creating a tier from a campaign - you don't need to select a creator first.

For a detailed guide on creating and configuring tiers, see Creating commission tiers.

Deleting a tier: To delete a tier, first remove all creators assigned to it. Once the tier has no active creators, you can delete it. This cannot be undone.

Bulk actions

The Affiliate Program is built for managing affiliates at scale. Here's what you can do in bulk:

  • Assign discount codes and tracking links - set up codes and links for multiple affiliates at once

  • Activate or expire codes - toggle codes on or off across hundreds of affiliates

  • Change discount percentages - update discount values across multiple codes in one action

  • Expire codes without unassigning them - deactivate codes while keeping the creator-code link intact for easy reactivation

  • Change commission tiers - move multiple creators to a different tier

  • End collaborations - remove multiple creators from the program

  • Send gifts - send product gifts to up to 100 affiliates per batch

  • Email groups of affiliates - reach out to selected affiliates directly from the Hub

FAQs

  • What's the difference between the Affiliate Program and campaigns?
The Affiliate Program gives you a consolidated view of all affiliates across your account. Campaigns let you organize and report on affiliates in separate groups. Use both together - campaigns for segmented reporting, the Affiliate Program for overall management.

  • Do I need to create a campaign to use the Affiliate Program?
You can invite creators directly through the Affiliate Program without a campaign. However, campaigns are still useful for organizing affiliates into groups and running separate reports.

  • Can I manage discount codes from the Affiliate Program?
Yes. You can create, edit, unassign, expire, and bulk-manage discount codes directly from the Affiliate Program without navigating to individual campaigns.

  • How do I remove a creator from the affiliate program?
Go to the Affiliates tab, click the three dots next to the creator, and select Remove from tier. Their discount codes stay active unless you expire them separately.

  • How do I delete a commission tier?
Remove all creators from the tier first, then delete it from the Tiers tab. This action cannot be undone.

  • Can I bulk-invite creators to the program?
Yes. Use the Invite affiliates button to add multiple creators at once and assign them a commission tier.
